BIO

Fighting the Shakes are back from the dead....

Again.

In short, they've shared the stage with bands such as The Mint Chicks, Cut off Your Hands, Against Me, So So Modern and Motocade. They released one hyper-spastic sounding, self-produced EP that sold hardly any copies. They still don't know where that money went, so it's pretty rare and probably worth a bunch of money.

A sense of loss always followed the band though, but rather than having a sulk about it they recruited bassist Tim Shann and his bag of tricks. Never lacking any ambition, the band are out to create something aggressively melodic and emotive. It probably will still sound weird though.

They're into angular guitars, The Beatles, Motown, Prince, At the Drive-In, vocals in the upper register no-one else can sing, weird effects pedals, pro-tools and copious amounts of gear hoarding.

Fighting the Shakes live and die by this particular Quincy Jones spiel: "You have to do something that gives you goosebumps and turns you on". Fighting the Shakes just want to turn you on.

If they can't do that then they might as well be dead.... again.

Fighting the Shakes are:

Chetan Parbhu (Drums, Vocals)
Tim Shann (Bass, Vocal)

It%u2019s quite a catchy tune with a sentimental take on arson. A drifty guitar driven melody held down by a boppy and terse rhythm section. Nice work! It brings back fond memories of the time the cops stopped me on the way to my ex-girlfriends house with a tank of gas and some matches, I had to get my mum to bail me out of the cells in the morning.

Not a bad song. Heaps better than 'I don't wanna sign on the dotted line' or 'back to square 1234'. but at the end of the day it is a mint chicks derivative. not to say it couldn't do well but this band doesnt have the fan base or buzz the mint chicks had at this stage so i cant see it being popular.
